Top positive review. Reviewed in the United States on 4, I was getting tired of the popping and hiss I was getting from my onboard sound february. Now almost any dedicated sound card is going to sound much better than onboard noise, but I chose the Recon3D, and especially this model, because of the front panel ports.
I was amazed once I discovered there have been more to the front panel than simply the most obvious jacks for headphones, mic, and RCA away. You can find three buttons that enable you to turn off THX also as choose from speakers and headphones.
The panel that is front automatically switch to headphone once you plug them in so the ability to switch to speakers without unplugging the headphones is very nice. There are two knobs on the panel that is front may be pressed for making them flush with the panel. One knob controls amount and also the other smaller knob controls mic level input. One thing to note. If you want to use the front panel jack for your mic you need to go into the control panel for Sound Blaster and actually enable this function.

I almost returned this thinking I got a front panel that is bad. Finally, the reason I gave this version of the Recon3D only four stars is because it's great for gaming but only so so for listen to music. The popping and hiss is nearly eliminated. However, the tone that is overall clarity whenever listening to music seems a little muffled if you ask me.
I am using my Sol headphones perhaps not the HD version. The four celebrity rating may never be reasonable because this is advertised as a gaming sound card, which it works well at, but we wanted better reproduction for music.
I knew the things I was purchasing i actually do play games but I was hoping it would surprise me on the music front. Overall, I'm satisfied with this purchase. It's very difficult to setup the real way you would like it, and once you do own it right, restarting the computer usually changes your profiles around.
Also saving a settings profile and reloading it doesn't bring back you settings precisely. I have it set to optical down, which you need to set as a downmix that is stereo of playing through the computer. You can't just allow it to play sound that is surround, and stereo often, etc as you would a home movie theater setup. Instead by default the optical only works whenever a signal that is surround played.

Stereo down mix through optical fluctuates in volume heavily. Watching a 30min tv episode, the volume will go method up and way down on it's own constantly. One other problem is the "headphone amp" has a tremendously average quality for the price. I have never had so many frustrations with a sound card ever.

This card for me was a pure pain in the butt I have 3 Problems with this card I would start playing MP3 music file and soon as the Vocals started on the song, the volume level of the song drops back. I could never get far enough into the combined group to post a Question. One person found this helpful. I like it. To the extent of what I use this card that is new, it will the trick.
